  • Yesterday's project got a good start.  Saw this idea in a magazine when I was waiting in a doctor's office.   As usual I didn't take a before picture, but here is the end result.  The headboard used to be just plain fabric on plywood.  Found this ribbon on sale in the right colors and out came the glue gun.  I think I will try to find a headboard at a salvage place and use the posts on either side to give it some definition, but I am pretty happy with how it came out.  It's pretty sick that I think our guest room is my favorite bedroom.

Iain has a field trip today to Auntie Anne's.  I don't know who is more excited, him or me.  I know mom, it's just not like getting a pretzel on the boards, but it will have to do since AA is no more on the boardwalk.

Ruth is complaining of horrible headaches.  Not sure what to do about that.  She ran a fever on Sunday and seemed better monday but has continues to complain of headaches and spontaneously bursting into tears and asking to go to bed.  Any ideas mom?  No more fevers so.....  Cora sounds like she has TB,  I can never keep her cold-free for more than a week or so.

Here's the three snuggled up watching "Ni Hao, Kai-lan".  It's pretty wierd having them speaking Chinese AND Spanish around the house now.  I suppose they can talk better to their Aunt Hannah AND their Uncle Rudy that way.

And a rare moment for the boys.... Iain is very much into coloring these days and has gotten very good.  I caught Greg enjoying himself too.

Still having trouble talking about Brett leaving the Packers.  I am just going to need some time.  *sigh*  That's all for today.  Later, kids.

  • ok, well in spite of spending a very obnoxious morning trying to get two "image hosts" to cooperate with each other, I think I have everything up and running.  Not bad for someone with little to NO tech experience.  From what I can see it's working now....

Since my sisters already took care of Christmas I will post a few pics but I'll mostly let you take a look at their stuff for that.  I had to laugh at this one of Iain I found on Katryn's facebook.  You know he loves doing this...look at the tongue!

Here's Cora and me.  It's the only picture I have that CORA actually has one of the ponies that she was given for Christmas.  Ruth has officially confiscated them.   And then there's this classic of Iain and Poppy.

Next we had a visit from Meggie....just a taste of how it will be when she's here for good.  Can't wait Meg.  Had fun going to Phantom....probably my 4th or 5th time.  Now I am ready for another Riverdance fix.

Iain turned 5 on January 26th...here is the big whopper on his Super Bowl Sunday debut.. yes, I know he looks three months old in this picture.  It sure felt like he was too.

I got a two week break from cake decorating and then came Ruth's birthday. She wanted a strawberry cake.  Strawberry everything.  I forgot how disgusting strawberry cake is.  The only good thing was I didn't polish the whole thing off in two days.  Here's the little diva in the hospital...

She was the princess who fixes all the boo-boos.  At least that's what she was telling us.  Not sure Cora was convinced.

Earlier that day we made it to the Farm Equiptment Expo.  Yes, we REALLY live in KY now.  And believe it or not, it was just as fun as last year.  Here is a shot of Iain and Ruth in the wheel of a sprayer tractor...I posted on last year and man they are huge.  And dad, next  year, we're gonna hit the monster tractor pull.  Mark your calendar!

    Iain Gregory and Ruth Abigael

That's about it for pictures this time.  We have some fun stuff coming up so I will try to post a bit more often.  I got lost in Facebookland for a while...there is all kind of poking, chest bumping and noogieing going on over there.  Welp, gotta run.  We want to get dinner finished and the kids in bed so we can watch the 'ville play Notre Dame tonight.  Oh...good news....Greg won the Chairman's Award at the NTS company meeting today.  One of the girls who works there called and told me he got a standing ovation and that's apparently kinda rare.  I was a little disappointed I didn't get to be there.  Pretty proud of him, I must say.  Oh, woops, was I Johanna for a second there?  (just kidding Jo, I can't help it.)

    Go David Archuletta!

So, ok,  I'm off to celebrate! see ya!

  • Oh my heavens, has it really been three months.  Woops.  I am having a ton of trouble loading pics because it seems that Facebook does not like to share with anyone.  Or something like that.  Pics that I had loaded on here turned into red x's once i posted them on Facebook.  Not sure how to rectify that situation and it's pretty maddening so once I see if I can figure that out I'll post some.  Until we get faster service it's too much of a time waster to sit on here fooling with it.  If you'd like to see some pics send me a message or an email and I'll be happy to send you a link to my facebook albums and\or make friends with you so you can see my page!

    Later! meeee

  • Well, Belke Fam, I hope you are ready for us.  I can't wait to join in the fun...rest assured, the candy lady has aquired the necessary confections for the Gingerbread house day.  Did you say "Don't go overboard?"  I did put a FEW things back.... We are packed and ready to go early and I mean EARLY Saturday morning.  Speaking of early, I took this picture when I got up this past week and it was so pretty outside.  Very frosty and sparkly, which you can't really see in a downsized Xanga shot,  but pretty just the same...

And here are a couple of disobedient Sunday afternoon nappers.  We tried it out....this was just moments before we ended up separating them.  They were so cute in Greg's office napping by the fire!

Ok,  I managed to keep the snot to a minimum for these shots.  Just another couple of the girls dresses that I at least wanted to get photos of them in!!!  I only took 63 this time and if you can believe it this was the best one of the three of them.  Anyway, I got some cute ones of them individually.  Here they are....

Got to put some tired cranky kids in bed.  But I hope this weekend is special for everyone and I pray that those who are travelling have God's hand on them and oh yeah, the local on call medical numbers for wherever you may be going.  : )  Merry Christmas and have a healthy holiday!  I will probably not post till we get back NEXT YEAR!!!!

  • Well, after 71, YES SEVENTY ONE pictures during a photo shoot yesterday I got a few cute ones.  They actually wanted to stay dressed up when we were done.  Pretty cute.  The girls have some really cute dresses  that I would like to make sure I get them pictured in so I can remember them.

Things have been busy, but really really profitable lately.  We have had so much fun as a family since Greg finished school and it's so nice to have him around to play at night.  Such a load off his shoulders and we are living a new life here!

It took a week, but we got the house decorated.  This seemed to be the year that as I pulled things out lights were not working on anything and I had to get all new ones.  Tried something different on the tree and we really like it.  Used lots of little lights but then used two strands of BIG white lites interspersed throughout the little ones.  It really looks old fashioned and we love it.

This was the tree just before ornaments...so pretty I almost left it that way!

Greg and I had a great time in Nashville last weekend and we got to go out to dinner last night too.  A place downtown called Avalon.  Really yummy dinner and finished it off by sharing Caramel Toffee Crunch Cheescake Ice Cream.  Uhhhhh......yeah.  Pretty good.

Used Gret's idea of wrapping the kids Christmas books up that they've collected over the years and opening one each night and reading it to them.  They are so excited.  In true Iain form he carries it around all day until I tell him he can open it.  He has carried his bell around ringing it at people and everyone gets quite a kick out of him.  I am thinking of carrying a bucket around and seeing if we get any donations......

Oh...one funny thing I keep forgetting to post about Iain.  A week or two ago when we were driving around he saw this big black truck and says to me..."Whoa mom!!  Did you see that truck?  It was as black as a COW!"  I am thinking...you know you live in Kentucky when....  The kids love checking on the cows when  we take our walk...which we haven't done much lately since it's freezing outside.  I miss it terribly.

Cora is talking up a storm these days....hard to believe she's pretty much just a kid now.  That little firecracker is up before six am and I don't know what to do about it.  She is just raring to go.  My only  hope is that Iain was the same way and now we have to drag that boy out of bed. He told me this morning that he doesn't want anyone to wake him up for school anymore....that he would just come down when he was ready.  Oh is THAT how it works?  Forgive me.  Ruth is, well, Ruth.  She's having a little trouble knowing whether to be big like Iain or be a tiny girl like Cora.  It's sad to see her try to keep up with Iain and the boys he plays with but she is not really content to play on Cora's level either.  Oh well, in just a few months Cora will be right there with her and I think they will get along well as they are very different girls and compliment each other.  Amazing that these three came from the same gene pool.

One last shot of my little reindeer... this picture came out really fuzzy so I "doctored" it to look old since they are so cute in it and were having so much fun with their antlers.  Too bad you can't recreate these perfect moments for the camera!

    Can't wait for Oma's house!!!
